Activities include: Kayaking, Canoeing, Sailing, Mountain Biking, Climbing, High Ropes, Orienteering both onsite at Shadwell Basin and off site on day trips and week long expeditions.
Session Times: Wednesday evening sessions 5.15pm to 8.30pm. Sunday sessions 10.15am-1.00pm and 1.45pm-4.30pm. Holiday Projects: 10.00am registration – activities 10.30am-1.00pm and 1.45pm-4.30pm.
Pathways: Pathways sessions are set to develop skills whilst young people gain experience in outdoor activities. Beginners and those developing basic skills take part in Green & Blue sessions on Wednesdays. Intermediate and advanced level participants take part in Red & Horizons sessions also on Wednesdays. Multi Level activities take part on Sundays. Girls Can activities take part Wednesday evenings and some Sundays – you need to have registered with us using our parent consent form and sign up for sessions via the doodle calendar which will be emailed to you if you have in advance of each session.
Red & Horizons: We have put together a training programme for those interested in developing 3 Star paddlesport & Leadership skills in a variety of craft. Dynamic training sessions will take place on Wednesday evenings. Sessions will focus advanced paddling techniques, rescues and rolling, stamina training, and tasks to produce higher level paddlesport performance. We will be using the River Thames from March/April as well which will develop moving water skills and sea kayak journeying.
For members wishing to take part in the Coach Development programme in 2017, these sessions will provide you with essential experience and pre-requisite qualifications. We will select the final group based on their development within these sessions and trips as well as leadership skills gained.
Trips: Please check the information on the trips section for the specific trip you are interested in so that you are prepared for that day/week. Most importantly book and pay for your place in advance we no longer take payment on the day of the trip and therefore you will not be able to attend.
Events: Please see the Events section below for holiday projects, residential and special event dates throughout the year ahead.
Clothing: You must bring an appropriate set of clothes (bottoms & top) for Adventure activities including a base layer, mid layer and waterproof depending on the weather. The Centre will provide specialist clothing for water based sessions such as water shedding salopettes and cagoule and mid layers and waterproof jackets for trips where possible.

With additional travel expenses we realise that this trip is more expensive as it works out at £330 per head so we have reduced it to £280 and urge all members to help us raise additional funds to support the trip. Experienced regular members can take part in the Kayakathon a 26.2 mile kayak marathon paddle on the Thames on the 7th May. Each member will aim to raise £150 and for other members we are planning something more suitable to their level.

Dumfries and Galloway is an idyllic country park and offers amazing opportunities for outdoor adventurous activities.
In order to take part on the expedition you will need to gain the appropriate level of skills. This trip requires you to have gained the Blue Pathways level in Kayaking/canoeing, sailing, mountain biking and climbing. For more advanced activities you will need to have passed Red Pathways in the above activities and started the Horizons activity level. If you are unsure what level you are check at youth club sessions.
