Youth Club – Trips & Events

Our trips offer an exciting opportunity to test your skills, spend time with your friends, discover new places and learn about new environments and cultures. We regularly organise day trips and week long residentials away from the city.  These are a great way to use the skills learnt here at Shadwell youth sessions and discover the real outdoors.  Trips will develop skills further and have an impact on your personal development too, especially building confidence and self-esteem.

Please check your pathways ability level before booking on trips

Attending sessions regularly will help you on your pathways journey and you will gain essential skills leading to assessment ready for these trips below.

Scotland Expedition 2017 – £280

Saturday 26th August to Saturday 2nd September

You must book by submitting your £50 deposit to secure your place by 5th July, if after this date you have not deposited then your place will be offered to someone else.

With additional travel expenses we realise that this trip is more expensive as it works out at £330 per head so we have reduced it to £280 and urge all members to help us raise additional funds to support the trip.  Experienced regular members took part in the Kayakathon a 26.2 mile kayak marathon paddle on the Thames on the 7th May and raised over £1500.
Each member is asked to raise a target of £100 for the trip. For those who did not raise their target amount on the Kayakathon, or did not take part we now need to plan another fundraising event that will challenge you and be worthy of sponsorship. Please send ideas via email or give them at youth sessions. A decision will be made soon.

Activity Informatiomn

Dumfries and Galloway is an idyllic country park and offers amazing opportunities for outdoor adventurous activities.

In order to take part on the expedition you will need to gain the appropriate level of skills.  This trip requires you to have gained the Blue Pathways level in Kayaking/canoeing, sailing, mountain biking and climbing.  For more advanced activities you will need to have passed Red Pathways in the above activities and started the Horizons activity level.  If you are unsure what level you are check at youth club sessions.

Training Programme

Please attend as many regular youth sessions as this will help you gain skills in each of the activities on offer on the trip and meet the prerequisite Pathways level and experience.
